The Backstory
BestCup was born of inventiveness, relentless curiosity, and a passion for all things coffee. With over two decades of experience in the specialty coffee industry, Khris, Greg, and Ike Bombeck are equal parts enthusiast, inventor, and entrepreneur. Three brothers from a small Alaska town and transplanted to Salt Lake City, they utilize ideals of quality craftsmanship, garage-tinkering mentality, and small business sensibility in their relentless search for better coffee and the tools to make remarkable coffee.
The technology behind BestCup was conceived within the walls of the Monastery of Flavor. The Monastery of Flavor is the nickname the brothers gave to the rudimentary coffee-tech lab where they tested and tinkered with everything from espresso machines to pourover recipes and commercial grinders to hand tampers. No matter what idea their imagination latched onto, the goal remained the same; We can make better coffee.
Khris Bombeck manages to handle most of the high level business tasks while being the creative engine behind BestCup.
Greg Bombeck is the artisan craftsman, woodworker, and all-purpose builder responsible for the nuts and bolts of BestCup.
Ike Bombeck is BestCup’s front-facing persona and accounts for all of our charm. He has a knack for being personable and, hey, someone has to be able to talk to people.
